Descartes – Content Business helps multi-national companies optimize business processes and turn unorganized data into corporate assets managers and executives use to improve performance, save money, and accelerate the international supply chain. www.descartes.com, www.customsinfo.com and www.gdmllc.com. This person will contribute to full life-cycle application development including user requirements, specifications, design, coding, testing, documentation, etc. They will also take the lead with new projects, gather design requirements, create specifications, develop and see the project to completion.
 

Roles and Responsibilities: 
•    Gather, organize, clean, validate and maintain tariff and trade data.
•    Develop custom applications/scripts/macros to accomplish the above
•    Manage data in SQL server via scripts and stored procedures
•    Process and manipulate data from many sources like Excel, text, JSON, XML.
•    Integrate data with web server backend.
•    Research sources for content.

Technical Requirements:
•    Bachelor's degree (degree in Computer Science or other engineering/scientific field preferred)
•    Languages: C#.NET, VB.NET, ASP.NET, t-SQL and VBA, HTML, Javascript
•    Development Environment: SQL Server, Visual Studio, TFS
•    Skills: Data processing, Excel/VBA macros, Access.  Data conversion and manipulation. 
•    Experience with unit testing or web site automation ( Selenium etc ) a plus
•    Minimum 2 years proven software development
•    Strong SQL and database skills

 

Location:  This is a remote opportunity for applicant authorized to work in Canada or United States
