Position Summary

Reporting to the European VP of Professional Services, the Professional Services Team Manager manages a team of specialists in the field of Logistics and ICT and delivers customer business critical projects within the set budget and time frame according to the Descartes quality standards and methodology. These projects cover the stages of design, implementation, and hand-over to our support organisation, they are multi-faceted and require strong customer stakeholder management at an executive level. 

 

This role is preferably based in Ireland; however, we will consider applicants who are UK-based.

Responsibilities

  • The successful implementation of Descartes’ solutions into customer organisations together with a team of specialists on project management, business consultancy and technical consultancy. 
  • Working with international and local customers with responsibility for communicating with, building, and maintaining a relationship with the customer’s executive stakeholder in relation to the implementation of the Descartes solution. 
  • Actively contribute to the development of a master plan together with customers and act as a trusted advisor.  
  • Manage a Professional Services team – staffing, budget and timing in an efficient manner.  
  • Maintaining contact with customers and function as the point of contact between external partners and your team.  
  • Manage the day-to-day operational aspects of the team.
  • Evoke creative and innovative thinking from team members while helping them to bring their ideas and career plans to fruition. 
  • Act as a facilitator to bring customers and Descartes’ ideas together into state-of-the-art solutions. 
  • Act as the Descartes solution implementation expert in pre-sales activities in front of the customer. 
  • Act as the primary support role for the Sales organisation in relation to Professional Services within the sales process and bringing customers through to positive success stories. 

Knowledge and Skills

  • Excellent relationship management skills, capable of maintaining ‘long lived’ executive relationships with customers. 
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong, productive relationships with customers, partners, and consultants. 
  • IT minded with a general understanding in the areas of application programming and technical design. 
  • Able to facilitate workshops with a broader audience. 
  • Experience of working in an international environment. 
  • Strong proactive communicator and presenter, able to influence and collaborate at all levels to maximise problem resolution whilst effectively presenting the information. 
  • Creative, entrepreneurial, and able to find easy solutions for complex problems. 
  • Results-driven and can deliver to with deadlines. 
  • Understand basic revenue models, P/L, and cost-to-completion projections and make decisions accordingly. Ability to accurately forecast revenue, profitability margins, bill rates, and utilisations. 
  • Able to identify business development and “add-on” sales opportunities as they relate to a specific project. 
  • Significant team management experience and have led internationally operating project managers and consultants. 
  • Significant project management experience on international and complex projects. 
  • Ability to work on different kinds of projects in parallel (big, small, business related, IT projects, etc.).
