As a technical writer for Descartes, you will work in a dynamic environment providing documentation for a wide range of software products. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Collaborate with multiple product development teams to research, develop, edit, format and review software documentation in German and English
  • Maintenance & improvement of existing documents and online help for multiple products to help reduce the number of incoming support tickets and increase customer satisfaction
  • Participate in team meetings to provide status updates and discuss new features
  • Use of image capture and graphics software to illustrate components
  • Help define, apply, and maintain writing processes, language standards and localization protocols to drive consistency across the Descartes product portfolio
  • Drive a culture of knowledge sharing and collaboration by using Microsoft’s collaboration tools such as Yammer, Sharepoint and Teams

 

Knowledge and Skills:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in English/German, computer science or a related field, or equivalent education
  • Several years prior experience in technical writing
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, image capture software, graphics software and online help applications such as https://www.proprofs.com/knowledgebase/ 
  • Excellent writing and grammar skills in English and German; capable of communicating ideas with different audiences in mind
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Organized and detail-oriented and able to balance multiple projects at the same time
  • Ability to quickly learn and describe new features
  • Team oriented, but capable of focused, independent work
  • Experience with e-commerce, transportation management, logistics or the supply chain industry is helpful but not required
  • Familiar with HTML and CSS for proper formatting of online help pages
