You ideally have data or software sales experience. You have a desire to make a six-figure income​ and also possess the desire to earn significantly more year over year.


Position Summary

The Account Executive (Business Development Manager)is responsible for identifying and developing new sales opportunities for Descartes Datamyne’s online, web-based solutions. This includes selling subscription services to our Datamyne global business intelligence platform, as well as customized information reports, and visualization tools to prospective customers. The position also identifies new product opportunities based on customer input and communicates requirements to our product management staff.  The Business Development Manager is also responsible for selling to and helping support an existing book of business.



  • Identifies and qualifies new sales opportunities, providing a consultative and value-added approach to create and foster relationships.
  • Builds a sales pipeline of qualified sales opportunities, manages pipeline and database accuracy related to prospecting activity.
  • Understands the customer’s business goals, operations, challenges and needs and applies this understanding to the appropriate information solution.
  • Develops and executes sales demonstrations to potential clients online.
  • Maintains customer relationships after sale, continuously assessing and communicating how Descartes Datamyne can meet their needs.
  • Identifies opportunities for upsell with existing accounts.
  • Identifies new product opportunities based on customer input and communicates requirements to the product management team.
  • Develops an in-depth understanding of all Descartes Datamyne’s products and competitive position to articulate the benefits and advantages of Datamyne.



  • BA/BS/BTech degree or equivalent
  • 5+ years direct sales experience
  • 3+ years experience selling to the assigned industry/vertical or territory (Global Trade, Import and Export Software). Historically consistent over-achievement of sales targets.
  • Track record of consistently exceeding/meeting 6-figure quota in the data or software space
  • Execution of a highly proficient, repeatable sales process
  • Creativity and ingenuity in developing successful sales strategies; have a working knowledge of the import/export industry along with a pulse on what is forthcoming
