Position Summary 

Descartes is seeking a Product Manager to support internal Descartes Shared Services. This role will specifically manage the corporate User Interface Standardization project, Single Sign-On security, Internal Operations Business Intelligence services for the Transportation Management/eCommerce groups and other future shared services initiatives.  The Product Manager will be responsible for all Product Management duties with an emphasis on roadmapping, release management, Agile/SCRUM process management, cross-product integration, and identifying product improvements to support our internal stakeholders.    

Successful candidates will have strong communication/stakeholder management skills, experience with shared services in a SAAS product environment, the ability to quickly understand needs and translate them into feature requirements, excellent written documentation capabilities, and strong analytical/data modeling skills.  This candidate will become an expert in these internal services, using this knowledge to provide best in class stakeholder guidance while also working internally to make our services better. 



  • Working with Product Owners, Product Managers and occasionally senior executive management to plan and prioritize Shared Services roadmaps 
  • Research and identify recommendations for the OneFace User Interface project, and SSO and federated security features/enhancements to continue improvement of product.  
  • Implementation planning and partnering with Product Managers/Engineering teams to schedule and support major initiatives like SSO activation and multi-factor authentication. 
  • Introduction, scoping, and planning with Product Managers/Engineering teams to implement the OneFace User Interface for the first time for their product 
  • Internal BI Program Management 
  • Manage internal operations teams needs for Transportation Management and eCommerce Pillar of the business 
  • Work with global teams of data science resources that will perform BI Engineering and report building 
  • Identify reporting needs with the business leaders and document requirements for BI visualizations/dashboards. 
  • Work with a reporting resource to ensure that stable, robust reports and dashboards are built 
  • Escalate and resolve areas of concern as raised by stakeholders; involve appropriate contacts in the Product Team, R&D, and Support groups.  
  • Assist in providing training and product demos to stakeholders in the use of systems and applications. 
  • Draft SOWs and Professional Services forms for project requests; work with the R&D to estimate time and effort; manage the process of drafting, reviewing, and signing off requirements specifications. 
  • Track and communicate with the internal teams for new activations, monitoring early implementation success.  
  • Host regular stakeholder update meetings. Document necessary points to share with internal and external stakeholders.  
  • Utilize internal reporting tools to build internal dashboards for monitoring implementation activity and other relevant KPIs.  
  • Write features, user stories, and technical requirements for product enhancements.  
  • Ensure adoption and continuous use of internal roadmapping tool, Aha! 



  • Previous experience with stakeholder management/internal communication responsibilities 
  • Team oriented, with the ability to work independently 
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an ability to build rapport with customers 
  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Business, Engineering or Supply Chain preferred 
  • Understanding of Agile SCRUM process 
  • Proficient computer skills, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) 
  • Advanced MS Excel capabilities (strong understanding of formulas, pivot tables, data modeling) 
  • PowerBI proficiency and configuration preferred 
  • MS Team Foundation Server (TFS), Jira, or DevOps preferred.  
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and consensus building skills 
  • Service oriented and solution driven 
  • Ability to organize and lead multiple concurrent projects independently
