We’re growing fast and invite you to join our amazing team.

The Migration Project Manager is responsible for shepherding a Descartes Internal Migration Project (or Migration) from inception to completion. When Descartes Product determines that a given application is no longer viable – it is redundant; requires expensive or non-support hardware or software; has fewer clients than the operating costs permit – it will face end of life.  For the clients who use that application, a Migration will be instituted.  A comparable, supported application will be identified and the Migration team will work with Product Management, R&D, the Service Desk, and Sales to move our clients successfully to the new application. The Migration Project Manager, under the Supervision of the Network Migrations Product Manager, will make sure that a Migration is completed efficiently and on time.

Responsabilities

  • Project Plan: the general outline of every migration of every migration is essentially the identical.  However, the each project will have unique requirements and therefor unique actions.  The preferred candidate will be able to take the template project plan (we use the application Aha! to manage Projects) and modify it to meeting the requirements of our internal and external stake holder.
  • Coordinating internal Resources: the Migration team members are generalists.  Migrations may require specialized knowledge. The Migration Project Manager will collect the necessary requirements and identify company resources who may assist with Project Tasks
  • Resolving Conflicts to Meet Global Objectives: a Migration Project operates across responsibility centers.  While we all work to a common goals, some groups may have different priorities, and those priorities may conflict with the objectives of a Migration.  The ideal candidate will be able to navigate these conflicting priorities with a focus on Objectives and Key Results set above all pillars.
  • Report on Success: the successful candidate will be using the tools built in to Aha! among others to clearly and regularly share the Team’s successwith the entire Descartes organization, as well as Key internal and External stakeholders.
