The Solution Consultant (SC) will play a key role in Descartes’ sales organization by teaming with the sales team to drive Solution and Services sales within North America. The Solution Consultant will develop a solution strategy in combination with the Sales Account Manager for new and existing accounts that will differentiate the Descartes Systems Group (DSG) from its competition. The Solution Consultant will develop a "trusted advisor" relationship with internal DSG sales professionals and customers to drive revenue growth. The SC will team with other DSG resources to improve the customer experience and drive profitable solution and services sales.

Primary Responsibilities:

•    Create and manage product demonstrations to support the sales organization.
•    Master standard product functionality for the Transportation Management and Routing, Mobile and Telematics suites.
•    Build and deliver customer specific product demonstrations.
•    Transfer knowledge to other participant roles on the deal and/or account teams.
•    Support RFI, RFP, proposals, presentations, and other customer communications during pursuit.
•    Establish the validity of a solution and its components with both short- and long-term implications when proposing business.
•    Partner effectively with others to ensure problem resolution and customer satisfaction.
•    Build customer loyalty through being a trusted advisor.
•    Apply consultative selling techniques to advance opportunities.
•    Anticipate and plan for competitive threats within a sales opportunity.
•    Work with customer Information Technology (IT) and Business management to develop an accurate understanding of business needs and determine feasible solutions.
•    Gather and assess customer needs, both business and technical, and create a high-level solution design with integration as required
•    Travel will be required.

 

Required Education and Skills:

•    At least 5 years of technology sales and/or pre-sales experience.
•    At least 3 years of experience in supply chain and/or transportation systems role.
•    Technical acumen.
•    Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
•    Ability to present to both small and large groups.
