QA Engineers are team members of an agile development process. They are responsible for design and execution test scenarios, evaluation the software applications and systems that make computers function and assessment of software quality though manual and automated testing. Quality Assurance is also responsible for finding and reporting bugs and glitches, design user guidelines and testing specification.

QA Engineers must be able to adjust to constant business change, common types of changes include new requirements, evolving goals and strategies, and emerging technologies. QA Engineers require the ability to interact, develop, engineer, and communicate collaboratively at the highest technical levels with clients, vendors, partners, and all levels of Peoplevox/Descartes staff.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

 

Technology knowledge

  • Can read, create and modify XML documents
  • Can read, create and modify UML diagrams
  • Understand the concepts related to object oriented programming
  • Can code in basic level a modern programming language (for instance Nightwatch) to aid in automating testing
  • Understand the concepts related to object oriented programming
  • Can very comfortable based on the real-life professional
  • experience use SQL to query relational databases for data from multiple tables at a time and to change data in relational tables
  • Comfortable working with a variety of technologies including CI/CD/CT pipelines
  • Experience with performance testing
  • Understanding of test methodologies
  • Product Development Pipelines and Workflows (Git, Jenkins, Docker, etc)
  • Programming languages experience (e.g.Java)
  • Knowledge of internet/network concepts
  • Knowledge of web services topics such as HTTP, ReST, and JSON
  • Automated testing frameworks and tools (e.g. Xunit, Selenium, Cucumber / Specflow, Appium, Postman, Nightwatch)
  • Test and verify defects that have been hot fixed in production environments
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience as QA Technical Analyst I
  • A proven record of experience working with computer software and coding
  • Knowledge of software development
  • Excellent analytical and diagnostic skills
  • Above-average planning and organizational skills and attention to detail
  • The ability to track and write articulate reports on technical assessments.
  • Project management skills and the ability to work well in a team
  • Efficient planning skills and an ability to adhere to deadlines
  • Investigate and resolve customer and internal issues escalated by other departments

Testing  knowledge

  • Knowledge of different Software development models (V-model, Agile)
  • Experience of performing different levels of testing: integration, SAT, UAT
  • Knowledge and experience of different types of testing: functional, non-functional, regression, usability, security
  • Knowledge about black box and white box testing
  • Experience of design of Test Scenarios
  • Experience of record and document results of test scenarios and compare to expected results
  • Experience of document defects/ bugs
  • Experience of User guidelines and documentation creation
  • Experience of reviewing and analyzing of System Specification
  • Experience of execution of Test Scenarios and reviewing results
  • Experience of Test cases execution (manual and/or automated) and results analysis
  • Experience of product code evaluation according to the specification
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure quality throughout the software development lifecycle
     

Experience in years, Trainings, Domain Knowledge, Soft Skills

  • Years of professional experience in software testing or development in web and mobile applications – 3-5 years
  • ISTQB Advanced Level certificate
  • Acts as an experienced level specialist in the area of application functionality and very well understands the business domain
  • Comfortable working with a variety of technologies including CI/CD/CT pipelines
  • Experience with performance testing
  • Understanding of test methodologies
  • Product Development Pipelines and Workflows (Git, Jenkins, Docker, etc)
