Opportunity Summary
The Solution Consultant will develop a “trusted advisor” relationship with customers and Descartes sales team to drive revenue growth.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a strong business and technical acumen to grow with the industry’s broadest array of logistics management applications.
Your Primary Responsibilities
- Interact with senior executives and operational management to discover opportunities where Descartes solutions can drive continuous improvements that drive bottom line results.
- Discover and assess customer needs, qualify opportunities from both a business and a technical perspective and define a solution strategy which delivers business value.
- Work with customer Information Technology (IT) and Business teams to develop an accurate understanding of business needs and determine feasible solutions.
- Partner with the sales and product teams to present Descartes solutions in a compelling and consultative approach to advance the sales process.
- Create and deliver winning presentations, proposals, product demos, RFx responses and other customer communications during pursuit of an opportunity.
- Support the North American sales team to deliver sales and revenue targets
- Master Product capabilities for Transportation Management and Routing, Mobile and Telematics suites.
- Anticipate and plan for competitive threats within a sales opportunity.
- Collaborate with Prospects, Sales, Marketing, Product, and Professional service teams to drive innovation

Required Education and Skills:
- Proven track record of winning by using a solution selling approach in logistics solutions space.
- Domain experience in the logistics – Routing, Mobile, Telematics (RMT) and/or transportation management solutions.
- Effective solution vision development – ability to see and present ‘the big picture’ – uncover business challenges, architect solutions to solve customer problems
- 5 – 7 years of experience in doing presales / product management / product marketing / sales in logistics – Routing, Mobile, Telematics (RMT) and/or transportation management solutions.
- Strong business and technical acumen
- Experience in Data Analysis and Modeling to understand current state and measure against future state
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to present to both small and large groups remotely and onsite.
Location:
- This is a remote opportunity for applicants authorized to work in United States or Canada. #LI-Remote
- Travel for customer / prospect meetings – 35% – 55% of the time
