When Descartes Product determines that a given application is no longer viable – it is redundant; requires expensive or non-support hardware or software; has fewer clients than the operating costs permit – it will face end of life.  For the clients who use that application, a Migration will be instituted.  A comparable, supported application will be identified and the Migration team will work with Product Management, R&D, the Service Desk, and Sales to move our clients successfully to the new application. The Migration Coordinator, under the Supervision of the Network Migrations Product Manager and the Migration Project Manager will be responsible for ensuring individual assigned External Stakeholders move through the migration process efficiently and on time.  They will be the key contact at Descartes for this client during the Migration process.

 

Responsibilities

•    Reporting to the Director and Project Manager
•    Attending daily Stand up and Stand Down calls with the Project Manager to report on Successes and Obstacles.
•    Daily/Weekly communication with external stakeholders
•    Schedule training with the external stakeholders
•    Working with external stakeholders to gather documents and documentation necessary for a successful migration.
•    Chase external stakeholders to ensure that the provide all required documentation in a timely manner
•    Speaking with Government regulatory agencies, such as US Customs and Border Protection, to understand gaps in data collected
•    Configure Web-based applications based on the requirements gathered from Internal and External stakeholders

 

Qualifications & Skills Required
•    Team oriented 
•    Working knowledge of Carrier and Forwarder Operations, in the Air, Ocean, and Truck modes, or a strong willingness to learn. 
•    Knowledge of or Interest in learning more about Global Security Filings 
•    Ability to communicate complex ideas around SaaS applications, global trade regulatory requirements, and the logistics industry in general, both in writing and verbally. 
•    A willingness to listen to non-technical clients as they attempt explain software and process challenges and the curiosity to tease out the issue behind their concern.  
•    Clients will often use verbiage that is internal to their own organization or may be uncomfortable with the concepts at the heart of their question.  Taking a minute to dig deeper than the surface meaning usually saves hours later. 
•    Understanding of Project Management concepts, particularly in software development 
•    Ability to explaining technical concepts to non-technical persons, verbally and in writing. 
•    Ability to take ownership of assigned tasks.  When a problem arises, with a client or with the applications, raise the issue to the proper party and follow up on that issue consistently until it is resolved or mitigated. 
•    A willingness to formulate and attempt a solution to any problem before escalation. 
•    Detail oriented.  The process is documented, but there are many steps for a successful migration.  If one step fails, it can cascade and impact both the individual client and clients not yet in the queue. 
•    Experience working with schemas and implementation guides to identify gaps and assist with mapping exercises. 
•    Ability to set clear boundaries with clients. 
•    Powerful knowledge of Office tools, especially Word, Outlook, and Team. 
•    Experience with developer tools (from Notepad++ to VSCode and beyond) 

 

Location: This is a hybrid position and may require employees to come to the offices in Montevideo a couple of days per week. #LI- Hybrid

 

Salary Range: $80,000 to $100,000  UY “Compensation information provided is a good faith estimate for this position only. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills as well as the years of experience you have. Similar positions located in different geographic regions will not necessarily receive the same compensation.”
